Mr. Macemon has spent a 40-year career in high-level engineering positions. After graduating from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Electrical Engineering, Bob spent 23 years as a Senior Engineer with AT&T and Western Electric designing, testing, and implementing solutions for domestic and international telecommunications equipment and high-volume manufacturing. During this time Bob also earned a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University. Since 2001 Bob has served in various capacities at the Radar Operations Center (ROC). Bob’s expertise was invaluable to both the Open Radar Data Acquisition (ORDA) and WSR-88D Dual-Polarization upgrades.
Bob’s technical knowledge is so specialized and valuable that he was asked by the Government to sit on the SENSR Technical Committee tasked with generating the high-resolution weather requirements for a Next Generation Multi-Mission National Surveillance Radar. Currently, Bob is working in the ROC’s Radar Hardware Engineering team to analyze and improve fleet-wide ZDR calibration, radar reliability, and evaluating potential future network upgrades.Outside of the ROC, Bob is an active member of Kairos Prison Ministry serving those with custodial sentences. For his part Bob brings his guitar and bakes and provides cookies for the inmates.
