Centuria has been awarded a contract by West River Electric Association (WREA) to install and commission a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Ellsworth Air Force Base (EAFB) in Rapid City, South Dakota. The BESS will provide uninterruptible power at a lower cost over traditional systems. This turnkey project includes all infrastructure, balance-of-system components, controls, and communications systems necessary to provide an operating system performing the minimum required applications.
Centuria offers technology leadership, financial strength, and access to global supply chains to serve the United States Air Force in the most effective and cost efficient manner. Centuria is partnering with Go Electric, a Saft company, to develop and deliver the EAFB BESS solution leveraging manufacturing facilities in Anderson, Indiana.
Edward Hall, Centuria’s Chief Growth Officer, said of the project, “Centuria is excited to provide leading edge battery enabled microgrid technology for enhanced energy resilience to West River Electric Association and Ellsworth AFB. This solution will ensure energy is available when needed to support the mission needs of the United States Air Force.”
